Psycho IV: The Beginning was one of the first feature length films to be shot at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. The production was to originally be filmed before the opening of the park in 1990 but due to delays and the studio's desire to have a high-profile production on the lot during the grand opening of the largest working film studio outside of Hollywood, tourists had a rare chance to see some outdoor production on the Bates Motel and Psycho House recreation sets.
