MCA Records released the original motion picture soundtrack album to Psycho III with a rather interesting score piece. The first track was listed as Scream of Love, the theme song to Psycho III. Now we all know the actual main title theme was actually track two - Maureen in the Desert. Recently I spoke with Carter Burwell who shed some light. The song was written by Burwell, Steven Bray and David Sanborn. The track was used in the film when Duane (Jeff Fahey) spends some... um... time with Red (Juliette Cummins). Universal wanted to have a pop song on the soundtrack album in order to promote the film on MTV. Scream of Love was remixed by Arthur Baker and appears on the soundtrack - although his cut is never heard in the film. MCA Records commissioned a music video with Tony Perkins which was shown on MTV back in 1986.
The single release of the song contained three tracks.
