The Bates Motel and Psycho House were constructed at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida back in 1988. The made-for-cable TV movie Psycho IV: The Beginning was to be shot on the stages of the newly built studio and the construction crew created an amazing exterior motel & house set to match the one in California. The house and motel remained from 1988 (long before the park opened) till about 1999 when they were taken down to expand a children's play area on the lot.
